Rosa Walker Advancement Initiative
Who will be teaching the music lessons?
Rosa Walker Advancement Initiative (RWAI) has partnered with Kimberly Cann, owner of Piano Lab Studios, to find certified music teachers to instruct the students. Each lesson will have a certified teacher and a teacher aide.
What age level can sign up for music Lessons?
Students aged 6-8 years old. However, if you have a precocious 5-year old or a very eager 9-year old, please reach out. If there is space, we may allow students to enroll who are outside of the prescribed ages (6-8).
Is there a cost for the music lessons?
The cost for in-person group music lessons are 75% off at $25/per month. The cost will cover instruction time, instruments and materials used during instruction.
When will music lessons be offered?
Music lessons schedule will given and disuss during the parent information meeting.
How do I get my student signed up for music lessons?
Your first step is to register your student on the website rwaiasheville.org or call 828-215-4123. Once you are registered you will need to attend the Parent Information session scheduled for 6:00 pm, Febuary 22, 2023 at St. James AME Church: 44 Hildebrand St., Asheville NC 28803.
Why must I attend the Parent Meeting?
At the parent meeting you will have the opportunity to meet with Kimberly Cann in person. Expectations for each student and parent will be discussed. Parent forms and paperwork will be reviewed and signed.
What if I can’t attend the Parent Meeting in-person?
Please inform us when you register your student for music lessons if you are not able to attend the meeting. If you are not able to attend, we will send you a zoom link to join during the same time as the in-person meeting.
Do you only offer piano and violin lessons?
Currently, music lessons are piano or violin focused. However, we are planning to expand our music program to offer additional instruments. Stay tuned (no pun intended) for additional updates.
